Marinades, Rubs & Dips

Quirki Chilli comes into its own when used as a marinade, rub or a dip.

The basics of what you need to make either are already in its ingredients.

So whether you have made your own or just looking to add flavour or heat to a shop bought one Quirki Chilli will be your culinary friend.


1tbsp Fish sauce + juice of one lime and rind + 1tsp palm sugar

1tbsp Garlic + 1tsp rosemary + juice of 1 lemon

1tsp Thyme + 1tsp sweet paprika + half the juice of an orange

1tsp Pink peppercorns + juice of one lime  + 1tbsp rice wine vinegar

 1tsp Ground cumin + 1tsp garam masala + 1tsp ground coriander + 1/2tsp ground black pepper

 1tsp Ginger + 2tsp garlic + finely chopped spring onion + 1tbsp soy sauce

 2tbsp Teriyaki + 1tbsp light soy sauce + 1tbsp garlic

1tsp Dried mint + 1tsp cumin + 1tsp dried oregano + 1tsp sweet paprika + whole juice and rind of a lemon


Being oil based Quirki Chilli is a delicious rub on its own. Adding a selection of dried herbs will create the perfect rub too.

Here are some of our favourite rubs, all are great for chicken, fish, pork, beef or potato wedges:

Mexican rub
1tsp dried oregano, 1tsp ground cumin, 1/4tsp cinnamon, 1/4tsp salt, 1tsp onion granules, 1/2tsp dark chocolate powder

Greek (Gryos)
1tsp dried oregano, 1tsp cumin, 1tsp sweet paprika, 1/4tsp cinnamon, 1tsp dried mint, 3 cloves of garlic chopped

1tsp ground cumin, 1tsp ground coriander, 1tsp turmeric, 1tsp of garam marsala,1/2tsp of garlic powder, 1/2tsp ground ginger, add salt to taste

BBQ rub
3tbsp light brown sugar, 1/2tsp salt, 1tsp garlic granules, 1/2tsp black pepper,  1tsp paprika, 1tsp onion granules, 1tsp cumin

1 1/2 tsp paprika, 1tsp dried oregano, 1tsp ground ginger, 1tsp ground cardamom, 1tsp garlic granules, 1tsp onion granules, 1/2tsp salt, 1/2tsp ground cayenne pepper


Quirki Chilli on its own as a ‘dip’ can be a wee bit hot!!

Adding half a teaspoon or so to either your homemade, or any of your typical shop bought dip can lift it to dipsville city.

A great benefit of Quirki Chilli is that if you love a bit of spicy loveliness and your partner or friends don’t then seperate the dip and add QC to one half.

Baba Ganoush
A smoky aubergine dip

A smooth blended chickpea dip with tahini and garlic

Mashed avocado mixed with tomato, onion, and seasonings, great is you splash a bit of vinegar and chuck a spoon full of bacon bites in too

Fresh tomato and onion based salsa

Courgette yoghurt dip
Very similar to tzatziki

Feta, olive and sun-dried tomato dip
Feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and black olives are blended in this full-flavoured Greek inspired dip

Peanut satay
Peanut flavoured dip or as a great marinade for bbq meats on skewers

Minty sauce with a creamy yogurt base is a classic Indian side

Simply add your required amount of Quirki Chilli to a small dish of mayo and mix in. Try it with chips, crisps, nachos etc

A rich and hearty Greek potato dip. A fantastic alternative to its cousin houmous

Olive oil bread dip
Along side your balsamic vinegar and olive oil grab another bowl and try Quirki Chilli with olive oil as an alternative dip

Pesto Dipping Sauce
Green or red QC helps bring the gentle kick to a classic pesto

Tapenade can be made with black or green olives

Beetroot Tzatziki
Bright alliterative to cucumber tzatziki

Spice up and add flavour to your ketchup

Mint sauce
If you like a bit of extra flavour with your lamb then try some qc mixed in with your mint sauce
